Dear Diary,
The busy days have caught up with Pat, she sleeps in until 9AM. Brenna has ridden her bike to work leaving her car for us. Chuck drives our rental to the dealer a few blocks away to drop it off, very convenient. He walks back to the apt, and the Alaska Range in the west is full out. Very considerate, as Pat is oblivious and snoring away. Pat drops Chuck off for fishing at Ship Creek again this morning. He was bought a several day pass and taking advantage. Pat runs some errands and stops at Fire Island Rustic Bakery a few blocks from Brenna. A guilty pleasure with mega fresh baked scones and breads. Will attempt to share with others. Sun and partly cloudy, not much out of the 50's. Pat takes advantage of alone time in the apt and starts to pack for departure. We really haven't bought all that much but there is more to pack. Pick up Chuck and no fish but he smells like he should have caught a few. They are catching around 25 pounds and the kings are still beautiful silver, good stuff. We stop off at Lucky Wishbone for chicken, what else. Brenna is riding her bike tonight so we take off with her car for dinner at Powell's. Terry and John's beautiful home is on the south end of town toward Turnagain Arm. We are delighted that John's parents are there and our very dear friend Lynda. We enjoy a delicious dinner with rhubarb crumble, rhubarb already harvested from the garden. It's a fun evening with lots of laughter and story-telling. We are reminded that longtime friendships are rich with story-telling, new experience, shared experience and memories. The strong bonds of friendship are not hindered by passing years. And it grows in importance. It is one of life's great pleasures, friendship is the gift you give yourself. We stop briefly on the way home at Captain Cook monument. The Alaska range is fully out as well as Foraker and Denali. After 10PM and there is full light. The sun is not out but shining through low clouds. Great photo opp, hope it turns out. It's a great final viewing as we leave the city. Bren's home and we try to stay up for chat but it's late and time for bed. Night.
