Dear Diary,
We are in Olympia, Washington, the state capital. Pat sleeps until 10AM. Finally Chuck comes and gets her up. It is well needed rest. It's Father's Day and Betty is making breakfast. We spend leisure time over coffee and visiting. Both Brenna and Seth call Chuck for Father's Day and we realize that Brenna is coming to Seattle today for work. We didn't realize our visits were overlapping in the area. Later in the day we drive out to a Barbecue place in the country, the Ranch House. It was destroyed by a rare flood 2 years ago. They they had a fire with the new construction. It's a cute little place. Lots of people waiting, Father's Day is a draw, but it's also very popular. We wait in the bar and enjoy our visit. We eat dinner outside on the patio. It's cool and spits a little rain but the umbrella keeps us dry. We have sampler plates of excellent barbecue that has been smoked and good side dishes. We 4 share a slice of bourbon pecan pie. No more room for food. We have a chance to do some laundry and take it easy. Then we teach Al and Betty to play euchre and they are patient and good sports. We find they catch on fast - too fast. We realize we might be able to see Brenna while she is here. We arrange to have dinner with her on Tuesday night in Seattle. She is working in collaboration with University of Washington for a week. So we are excited to catch up with her. It's been a fun day with good friends and good food. More adventures coming. So time for bed. Night.
